BIRTH OF A HIP HOP GENIUS
iAM13e, pronounced “I AM BE”, is a Hip Hop MC with a mixed heritage of Zambian, Zimbabwean, Greek, and Scottish. The music he produces can only be described as “impactful, emotive, and energetic.” iAM13e has been making words rhyme from a young age. This evolved into poetry and singing, which evolved into rap by the time he’d reached his early teens, and he’s been rapping ever since.
A DIVINE CONNECTION
At A SLEEPING SAMURAI® we are interested in people who want to do their work with care and love, and so we asked iAM13e what makes him love to rap? He responded, “Being a rapper or MC for me, is a connection to the divine and utter presence. When the words are crafted in the way they are, it’s my intention for you to listen. I also have no expectations and will do what I need to do to leave a lasting impact whenever I perform. Music to me is a doorway to immortality. The things I create have the capacity to outlive me and build a legacy for my future generations.”
GLASTONBURY
Like many top artists, iAM13e is best experienced when he’s performing live. One of iAM13e’s biggest highlights of 2024 was performing at The Rum Shack at Glastonbury. A big moment in his career and no little validation of his talent.
This year, the rapper has also performed numerous festivals including Boomtown, Medicine and at the Bristol Harbourside Festival to name a few. We asked iAM13e what was his best moment of 2024? He replied, “This summer, without a doubt, was the Medicine Festival on the Ubuntu stage. The energy was off the chart and it was a special moment for me.”

6AM IN DAHAB
A salient moment in 2024 was when iAM13e’s most recent single “6am in Dahab” premiered on BBC1Xtra. iAM13e is currently working on a 4-part project (announcement pending), for which the first part will be out very soon. We can’t wait.
