THE STORY
The "LUCKY DICE" collection has been seven years in the making, when I began my idea of having my own fashion label. I was in Hong Kong and I had just taken the boat across the water to Macau, where I'd be staying for a week or so. A few days into my trip and I decided to walk around the casino, located at the basement of my hotel. I actually know absolutely nothing at all about gambling, but it was interesting to walk around and see the huge sums of cash being exchanged at the tables. I wondered, if I was a gambler would I be "lucky"? Then it got me thinking about life and I wondered if I was a lucky person? For sure, the harder I work, the luckier I get. My thoughts began to go deeper. The more I visualise, the luckier I get and the more my dreams seem to manifest.
In my mind I pictured the dice and how they might form the basis of my fashion piece, the "LUCKY DICE". The dice would be orange in colour and would sit large on the back of a T-Shirt. The T-Shirt would be an inspirational piece. A reminder that we make our own luck. Under the dice would sit the words "LUCKY DICE". No! Under the dice would sit the words "FEELING LUCKY". Luck is a feeling and, just like visualisation, if you can see your success then that success will be yours, and that lucky feeling will travel with you wherever you go. The brand message, "DO YOUR WORK WITH LOVE. THE OUTCOME WILL BE LOVEABLE.™" came some years later, when I finally decided to put the design into production.
When I left Macau, a few days later, I didn't realise just how important that trip had been. It had inspired a very important piece in my collection, and at the time I didn't even know it.
